Let’s Go Ajala✈️#IntentionalOpenness

29 Years of life | 10 Years of Independent Travel | 5 Continents | 47 Countries |

Summer has this magical way of breaking down our walls, doesn't it? There's something about longer days and warmer evenings that makes us more open - to spontaneous conversations with strangers, to saying yes to unexpected adventures, to living with the kind of intentionality that turns ordinary moments into memories we'll treasure long after the temperature falls. Whether you're looking for summer season possibilities or crafting intimate escapes with people who matter, this newsletter edition is all about embracing that spirit of openness and making every journey count.

Reflections on EU Summer Travel (audio)

Sometimes the summer holiday IS your best bet, that's exactly the case for a member of our LGA community, Sarah, who works as a speech and language therapist and has the most flexibility to travel when school is out.

From top to bottom we see Sarah living her best life travelling in St Jean cap Ferrat (France), Osaka (Japan) and Bordeaux (France)

Sarah screams European in and out - she loves sparkling water, cheese and meats and looks gorgeous in her neutral toned outfits! On my trips with her I've been blown away (and greatly benefited) by her French. She's lived and worked in Belgium and visited Belgium, Germany, Lithuania, and France multiple times - a true Ajala who gets to know a country like a local.

We’ve decided to test sharing her musings as an audio(!) so listen below for:

  • Sarah’s take on cheap off-the-beaten path destinations

  • What European destinations have taught Sarah about intentional living

  • Her quick hack for maximising her budget to achieve long-haul travel during the peak season

Affordable Flights to Your Next Adventure✈️📉

📢£479 📢 ✈️Manchester ➡️ Tokyo, Japan

08/11/2025 - 15/11/2025 Customise/book here

Booking note: Japan will forever be my favourite yet most gobsmacking holiday as an English solo traveller. There’s so much on offer in the way of unique culture, shopping, food and being able to legitimately do things solo. Hainan airlines is known as the best Chinese carrier and has a 5* airline certification (!) so this price for good service and free baggage is great. Your return flight timings (plus China’s free layover visa scheme) means you’ll get a full day in Beijing too. That’s two countries with distinct cultures for 5 days of annual leave? Yes please!

📢£300 Direct📢 ✈️Manchester ➡️ Cancun, Mexico

28/08/2025 - 08/09/2025 book here

Booking note: Tui is at it again with last minute direct flights to Cancun. I last visited Cancun in 2018 and I remember the water activities blowing me away and yet being the cheapest dent in my budget while travelling around the Caribbean. I’m talking snorkelling with Turtles, night snorkels, dinner cruises, island trips and parasailing for genuinely not that much. I was also able to climb to the top of a Mayan Pyramid, I wonder if that’s still allowed 😅

📢£305 Direct📢 ✈️London ➡️ Los Angeles, USA

11/09/2025 - 20/09/2025 book here

Booking note: Norse Atlantic does not play games, they are consistently undercutting competitors with direct routes to popular destinations and on this occasion I'm sharing one to LA. Note that due to this undercut online travel agents (OTA’s) are offering Virgin Atlantic and BA flights at a competitive price too, around the £400+ mark.

📢£201📢 ✈️London ➡️ Praia, Cape Verde

08/12/2025 - 13/12/2025 book here

Booking note: Easyjet have opened up Cape Verde to Europe and I am so here for it! But why is this particular route especially a good deal? Flights to islands other than Sal and Boa vista rarely drop in price. And even if they do I would have said something around the £300 mark was cheap. At £200 this is a steal and let's you see a more authentic island which has a little bit of everything. An old and bustling capital city for the history buffs, fine sand beaches for the beach bums and a gorgeous national park for the nature lovers and walkers, All this while experiencing great food and culture! Let me know if you’d like my activity and accommodation recommendations :)

Disclaimer: Price drops last anywhere between minutes and days, but never forever. Although I’ve personally verified these flight prices they may not be the same by the time you’ve clicked through. If you've missed out on a deal don’t worry, there will be more.

Weekend Trips: It’s a love language

Summer is a special time whereby openness is the norm. It’s the perfect opportunity to meet new people, build connections, engage in meaningful conversations and hopefully create memories that will have you reminiscing well into the future. But how can you tell if the person who caught your attention truly understands you? And how can you show them that you genuinely appreciate them?

Inspired by a simple tweet: “My Love Language is Acts of Vacation”😄 here are some great extended weekend deals both outside and within the EU that can help you show that special friend, love interest or yourself that you care.

📢£179📢 ✈️Birmingham ➡️ Doha, Qatar

21/11/2025 - 25/11/2025 book here or customise to stay for longer

Booking note: Yallah (Let’s go) to the middle east! This itinerary saves you over £250 on airfare (I recommend using the OTA kiwi.com to get a further £90 off vs booking direct). This plus the sheer amount of 4* an 5* hotels that drives the price down, means you’ll be able to have a luxe holiday and enjoy some winter sun on a very decent budget.

📢£122📢 ✈️London ➡️ Giza, Egypt

13/02/2026 - 16/02/2026 book here

Booking note: This route was £90 when I first found this but I thought I'd keep it in because once you land in Egypt accommodation, food and getting around is still super cheap. It’s usually around £200 at best to fly to Egypt so for almost half price you can spend a romantic weekend ticking off THE bucket list activity of seeing pyramids in the flesh and learning about ancient Egyptian culture. All while getting some winter sun and eating great food!

📢£58📢 ✈️Manchester ➡️ Funchal, Madeira

08/12/2025 - 13/12/2025 book here

Booking note: Madeira is dubbed the Hawaii of Europe, although it is geographically pretty much in Africa. It has stunning landscapes and hiking paths plus a tropical climate so whether you want to chill or adventure, it has you covered.

📢£45📢 ✈️London ➡️ Bucharest, Romania

10/10/2025 - 11/10/2025 book here

Booking note: Have you heard of extreme day trips? Essentially flying to and from a destination for the day so you don’t have to think about luggage or hotels. This route lets you take no days off and land straight into Bucharest at stupid o’clock in the morning :D. Bucharest is probably most known online for it’s therme spa, but there is also history, culture and cheap food to explore beyond the waters.

Disclaimer: Price drops last anywhere between minutes and days, but never forever. Although I’ve personally verified these flight prices they may not be the same by the time you’ve clicked through. If you've missed out on a deal don’t worry, there will be more.
