#Embrace/Escape Winter ☕🍹

Hello from the brown rooftops of leafy Ibadan, Nigeria

Me at the bottom of Bowers Towers, a monument offering great views of Ibadan

This chilled city has 100% lived up to my romanticisation as I’ve laughing with all my body, eaten with all my fingers and connected with my beloved cousins, aunt and old friends. I was on a much needed break, and quickly realised I wouldn’t be pouring 100% into Let’s go Ajala as I had hoped. Instead, I’ve enjoyed still mornings reading my bible, electricity-lacking evenings debriefing our days and laughing with family members who both tease and affirm who I am…underlining the family values we collectively uphold that transcend continents and cultures. As if this wasn’t enough, I geared myself back up for city living by experiencing the unrealness of Lagos Island (plus a good friend’s wedding!) and Cairo’s Pyramids before landing back in London.

All this to say, I’m sorry this is late! 😅 There will only be one newsletter this month and (now I’m being real with myself) in November too. As I am taking a similar amount of time out to travel to Bahia in Brazil.

  • If you need personalised help saving money, time and headache I’m still here to source value for money flights or/and accommodation for you! Just send me an email :)

  • Follow me on Instagram if you haven’t already, Nigeria content will be coming out imminently, then Brazil

  • And I will be giving a short talk on Travel and Identity in Skyscanner’s London HQ next week with the Now You’re Talking Network

Right, onto the Newsletter 🙌

When winter starts approaching I swiftly depart the country, so whether, like me, it is escape strategies you are looking for, or if you’d appreciate a push to embrace the festive season. This edition has you covered 🙂

Let’s wrap up and go☕Cosy Christmas Markets

📢£36 ✈️ London ➡️ Bremen Christmas Markets, Germany

Thurs 27/11/2025 - Sun 30/11/2025 book here

[Extreme daytrip for £30] Mon 24/11/2025 book here

Booking note: You won’t find Bremen's Christmas Market in a listicle but as someone who has been to Hamburg, Heidelberg, Frankfurt, Cologne, Berlin, Dusseldorf and Bremen over countless trips to Germany, This city wins hands down for its Christmas market running 24th Nov - 23rd Dec. It boast two markets worth visiting and my fav is the Medieval market that takes you back into a German fable, all within a quaint setting and a vast array of flavoured gluhwein (mulled wine). Bremen’s airport is tiny so don’t bother getting there 2 hours before your flight, because of this I’ve suggested an extreme day trip itinerary for those with limited time. But the weekend options gives you a cosier holiday, with the option to take a bus 90 mins to Hamburg if you want to explore more.

📢£18 | ✈️ London ➡️ Birmingham, UK

Pick dates and book here (7+ days in advance)

Booking note: For those who don’t want to fly to Germany I’m putting you on to the most authentic Christmas market we have in the UK, and it’s bang in the middle of the country! Running from Sat 1st November to Wed 24th December, this market twins Frankfurt’s Christmas market and gives you that proudly German experience (arguably more so than Hamburg’s one in my opinion!). In terms of getting there - those with a railcard can get an advance return for around £20, or open return for £30. If you don’t have a railcard Avanti super fares offers unsold seats at £9 a pop between London and B’ham. You just need a little flexibility as you’ll only know which train you are taking within your chosen timeframe 24 hours in advance. Click the link above to learn more.

Let’s get out of here!🍹Warm Winter Breaks

📢£30 | ✈️ London ➡️ Gran Canaria, Canary Islands

Thurs 4/12/2025 - Sun 7/12/2025 book here/customise

📢£50 | ✈️ Manchester ➡️ Gran Canaria, Canary Islands

Sat 6/12/2025 - Sat 13/12/2025 book here/customise

Booking note: With daytime temps around 20 degrees this will become a no-brainier as the cold sets in across the UK. Being the largest of the Canary Islands there’s lots of accommodation options (remember my accommodation tips - the 5th site especially will help here). Beyond the amazing 5* hotel deal, my highlight activity was walking through the surreal Maspalomas Sand Dunes before sunset so do try and venture out there if you can!

📢£231 | ✈️ London ➡️ Dubai, UAE

Sat 8/11/2025 - Sat 15/11/2025 book here/customise

Booking note: Enjoy temps up to 30 degrees(!) with this mini 2-in-1 holiday. It includes a full day layover in Istanbul before spending 5 days in Dubai’s fine-dining restaurants, beaches and attractions (Sharjah Airport is is a £4, 65 minute shuttle bus away from Dubai, or a £25 30 minute taxi ride.) Note your layover on the way back will only be 1 hour so you’ll have time to decompress before returning to work.

📢£332 | ✈️ London➡️ Hong Kong

Fri 28/11/2025 - Sun 07/12/2025 book here/customise

Booking note: Enjoy Asian festivities with Christmas lights, markets and shopping galore, all within comfortable 20 degree weather. There’ll be an array of cultural activities to do in this unique period plus the usual great food and, if you want to venture outside, scenic hikes, boat rides and the beach. These flights include a checked bag and have relatively short layovers which I appreciated when sourcing it, but if you want to choose a long layover to take advantage of the Beijing free layover visa you can on your way back, and it’s actually a bit cheaper!

Disclaimer: Price drops last anywhere between minutes and days, but never forever. Although I’ve personally verified these flight prices they may not be the same by the time you’ve clicked through. If you've missed out on a deal don’t worry, there will be more.
